Yes! For most matters, I assist clients in each and every county in Alabama, not just the Birmingham metro area. However, there are some services that I cannot provide to every county and I only provide full representation for matters in Central Alabama counties. Please contact me to find out whether I offer specific services in your county.
The cost for my services depends on the type of service you are requesting, the type of representation I will be providing and the complexity of your situation. Whenever possible, I charge flat fees for my services so you will know exactly how much it will cost up front. For those services where a flat fee is offered, I expect you to pay the full fee upfront before I begin any work on your case. I do not offer payment plans for flat fee services. The fee you pay me does NOT include any filing fees or court costs. You are responsible for paying those fees separately from the fee for my services. For full representation, I typically charge an hourly rate and require a retainer payment before I begin work on your case. The fees listed are subject to change and may be higher depending on the complexity of your unique circumstances. Click here to contact me for a fee quote
*Fees listed above are for specific services rendered by Summer G. Walker, PC and do not include filing fees. If you require additional or unusual documents to be prepared such as a QRDO, property deed or a Trust, these fees will not apply. Before I begin any work on your behalf, I will provide you with a fee quote, an explanation for any additional fees, and a written fee agreement that explains the fees and legal services to be performed will be signed by us both.
I accept credit & debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover), checks, money orders and cash.
The Alabama State Bar recently approved "limited scope representation" as another way of providing legal services to people who do not want, do not need, or cannot afford full legal representation in the traditional manner. This is also known as "unbundled legal services." By allowing attorneys to unbundle legal services, it limits the scope of an attorney's responsibility for a case and creates options for a new kind of working relationship.
With Limited Scope Representation, the client and attorney agree in advance which issues will be handled by whom. Summer G. Walker, PC provides unbundled legal services to clients by preparing legal forms including Complaints, Motions and other pleadings to make requests to Alabama courts.
In order for me to assist you with an uncontested divorce, you and your spouse must meet the following requirements:
You and your spouse do not have to know all of the specific details of things such as visitation schedules in order for me to assist you, but you need to have a broad understanding and agreement on how you both would like to handle such issues going forward.
In Alabama, the requirements for divorce can be different depending on the county where you file for divorce. Some counties require both parents to attend a parenting course before a divorce decree will be issued when there are minor children of the marriage. If the county where you are filing for divorce requires you to attend a parenting course, I will provide you with all of the necessary information regarding the course when receive your completed uncontested divorce questionnaire.
